My Approach

I started with looking at the primary actors' costumes, due to restricted material I needed to make the understudies costumes look similar without the original material available. I went with a narrower trim and bows made of the original material so that the costumes could be connected and look cohesive with the primary actors' costumes.

The Project

I was contacted by Lisa Aitken who was working on A Christmas Carol-ish to come in for a day and assist with alterations on some of the costumes for the understudies

Bumps in the road

Unfortunately there was also a low amount of the secondary trim used, and it was to be used to trim the belts I was making as well. To adapt for this I lined the female actors' belt, but made a belt buckle out of it for the male.

Final Product

By the end of the day I had hemmed/altered two pairs of trousers/shorts, added trim and crafted bows for the shorts, constructed two partly elastic belts, and added trims to the belts.

Lessons Learned/Things to do Differently

I did not know beforehand that I would additionally be trimming the belts I crafted with the same trim, and something I would have done differently would be to attempt to be more conservative with material in case it is needed.
